Team news
Leicester
Ricardo Pereira, Ryan Bertrand and Harvey Barnes are out. Danny Ward, Ayoze Perez and Hamza Choudhury have recovered from niggles. Wesley Fofana, James Maddison and Youri Tielemans are expected to play despite question marks over their futures.
Brentford
Ethan Pinnock, Sergi Canos and Kristoffer Ajer are out. Ben Mee, Keane Lewis-Potter and Aaron Hickey could all make their debuts.
Match preview
A summer of uncertainty has surrounded Leicester but one thing that looks likely is that their first Premier League game will be an exciting affair when they host Brentford.
Both teams scored in 26 of the Foxes’ 38 league games - the highest tally in the division - and both teams have found the net in the last three meetings between these sides.
Veteran goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has departed while James Maddison, Youri Tielemans and Wesley Fofana have all been linked with a move away.
Brendan Rodgers’ side are likely to benefit from the return of some of their key figures from injury but the doubts over the future of others is hardly welcome.
Brentford will be without their star player from last season after Christian Eriksen departed to Manchester United but Thomas Frank’s squad has been bolstered with some young talent, including Aaron Hickey and Keane Lewis-Potter.
Defensive stalwart from last season Pontus Jansson looks likely to anchor the back four and could be overpriced to be first on the scoresheet given Leicester’s set-piece struggles last season.
No side conceded more goals from set plays than the Foxes’ 19 last season while Jansson scored three times from such situations and looks a big price to find the net first.
