Fulham vs Ipswich predictions
Ipswich gave their Premier League survival hopes a significant boost with a shock 2-0 home victory over Chelsea in their final game of 2024 and the Tractor Boys may be able to start the new year on a high note at highflying Fulham.
Kieran McKenna’s side remain in the relegation places but that surprise success over the Blues has kept them within hailing distance of those above and victory at Tottenham in November further highlights that they have no problem playing the role of the underdog.
Ipswich have also battled to draws against Manchester United, Aston Villa and Brighton this season while the home fixture between these two at Portman Road at the beginning of the season ended 1-1, with Adama Traore cancelling out Liam Delap’s opener.
Even in five of Ipswich’s last six defeats, which include away trips to top-four pair Nottingham Forest and Arsenal, they have been beaten only by a single goal and they remain extremely competitive despite their league position.
So there is plenty of hope that the Suffolk side can avoid defeat at Craven Cottage, where Fulham have played out three straight draws against Arsenal, Southampton and Bournemouth.
It has been a tremendous season for the Cottagers, who started the weekend eighth and only three points behind fifth-placed Newcastle.
However, Marco Silva’s men have only two wins in their last eight games and have played out five stalemates in that period.
Only Brighton have drawn more matches than Fulham in the top flight this season which could hamper their push to qualify for Europe, and the Tractor Boys may prove to be another thorn in their side.
Key stat
Fulham have dropped a league-high 19 points from winning positions in the Premier League this season.
