Everton vs Fulham predictions

Fulham’s strong start to the Premier League season has been undone by successive defeats against Manchester City and Aston Villa, but the Cottagers may be able to get back on track with their sights lowered at Everton.

Marco Silva’s side had gone five league games unbeaten before finding the challenge of City and Villa too hot to handle, although they performed with real credit despite the calibre of their opponents, who are both riding high in the Champions League.

Fulham opened the scoring in each of those losses and created plenty of chances in their 3-2 defeat away at the Etihad to suggest that they may be a level above Everton as former Toffees boss Silva looks for a golden moment on his latest return to Goodison.

The Londoners also shot themselves in the foot in that 3-1 reverse against Villa last time out, missing a first-half penalty, seeing Joachim Andersen sent off early in the second period and conceding an own goal.

But the Cottagers have defeated Newcastle and won at Nottingham Forest within the last month and Silva has assembled an extremely competitive squad, headlined by the arrival of creative midfielder Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal.

With Smith Rowe, the revitalised Adama Traore and Andreas Pereira providing strong service, Raul Jimenez is thriving and he is on a run of four goals from his last five Premier League appearances.

Jimenez's return to form means Fulham have a goalscorer to rely on and this is a fixture that they have performed well in in recent seasons, going six meetings unbeaten and winning on their last three league trips to Goodison Park.

Everton come into this fixture unbeaten in four and seemingly on an upward trajectory, but that may be more down to a generous run of opponents.

Sean Dyche’s side have recorded victories over winless pair Crystal Palace and Ipswich and they’ve also drawn against newly promoted Leicester and a travel-sick Newcastle side who rarely hit the heights on their travels.

Prior to then, Everton had conceded at least three times in suffering four straight defeats to Brighton, Tottenham, Bournemouth and Aston Villa and defensively they are not as astute as we have come to expect for a Dyche team.

Fulham have been flying out the traps, opening the scoring in five straight league games, and if they can get themselves in front early then Everton may struggle to reel them in.

Silva's side are clearly not fazed by playing away – Fulham have lost only four of their last 12 road league games – and when you compare the two squads they look to be blessed with more potential match winners.
