Match preview

Spurs' Europa Conference League success over Vitesse will have told Antonio Conte everything he needs to know about the size of the task facing him at Tottenham, who are all the rage at Goodison Park.

They were 7-4 and upwards for this clash at the start of the week following last Sunday's wretched surrender at home to Manchester United.

Conte replaces the hapless Nuno Espirito Santo and suddenly everyone wants to be with Spurs but getting with goals is the better bet.

While there's undoubted optimism over Conte's arrival, improvements might not be instant on the evidence of the 3-2 win over Vitesse, a match featuring five first-half goals, three red cards, and more away chances than anyone in the home dugout would have wanted.

Spurs take on the Toffees at a decent time with Rafa Benitez's men on a run of three straight losses having shipped seven in the last two.

But there is little to admire about Spurs defensively at the moment and that won't be an overnight fix for Conte.

Key stat

Six of Spurs' last seven league matches have produced three goals or more.
