Crystal Palace vs Liverpool predictions

Table-toppers Liverpool have won eight of their first nine matches under Arne Slot and there should be more success for the Reds on their Premier League trip to struggling Crystal Palace.

Wednesday's 2-0 home victory over Bologna in the Champions League means Slot has had the best start of any manager in Liverpool's history and he has a great chance of making it nine wins out of ten at Selhurst Park.

The only blot on the Reds' record this season was last month's 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest. They have since have beaten Milan and Bologna in the Champions League and Bournemouth and Wolves in the Premier League as well as thumping West Ham 5-1 in the EFL Cup.

While Slot enjoys an extended honeymoon period after succeeding Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, Palace boss Oliver Glasner has had a challenging start to the campaign.

The Eagles won six and drew one of their last seven Premier League matches last season and that run began with a 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield.

This term, however, they have picked up only three points from six games, losing to Brentford, West Ham and Everton and needing an injury-time penalty to salvage a 2-2 draw with promoted Leicester at Selhurst Park.

Palace beat West Ham 5-2, Newcastle 2-0, Manchester United 4-0 and Aston Villa 5-0 in their final four home fixtures of 2023-24 but they have struggled to hit those heights this term.

Last weekend's 2-1 defeat to struggling Everton, where they took a tenth-minute lead through Marc Guehi, followed a goalless draw at home to United, who hit the woodwork twice and missed several other good chances.

Liverpool's forwards are likely to be more ruthless and the visitors are worth backing at odds-against to win a game featuring over 2.5 goals.

Slot's first two matches in charge were 2-0 league wins over Ipswich and Brentford, in which Liverpool had 18 and 19 shots, and their next five victories, including a 3-0 success at Manchester United, all had at least three goals.

They were fortunate to keep a clean sheet against Bologna in midweek and Palace, with Eberechi Eze playing off Jean-Philippe Mateta and Eddie Nketiah, pose a goal threat.

However, Liverpool's squad is virtually at full strength. Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz have impressed recently while Mohamed Salah has eight goal contributions in six league starts and the Reds should extend Palace's poor run.

Liverpool have scored at least twice in 13 of their last 16 Premier League matches

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool bet builder predictions

Liverpool to win
The Reds have won their first four away matches under Arne Slot, scoring ten goals, and should be too strong for their struggling hosts

Eberechi Eze to have over 1.5 shots
Crystal Palace's key man averages 4.2 shots per game in the Premier League this season and had six attempts in two EFL Cup ties

Daniel Munoz to be booked
The wing-back faces a tricky 90 minutes against the in-form Luis Diaz and he was booked nine times in 32 league starts for Genk and Palace last season
