Team news

Chelsea
Chelsea have a fully-fit squad. N'Golo Kante could return on the bench after a thigh injury.

Burnley
Charlie Taylor and Ashley Barnes face fitness tests after missing the win over Aston Villa. Josh Brownhill is also a doubt.

Match preview

The Thomas Tuchel era at Chelsea started somewhat underwhelmingly but there were mitigating factors as he had taken only one training session and needs time to instil his philosophy and style on the squad.

There were reasons for the German to be positive about their 0-0 draw with Wolves, particularly as the Blues dominated possession, and improvement can be expected over the next few weeks.

Chelsea should dominate possession again when they host Burnley, although Tuchel may not have faced anything quite like Sean Dyche's side before, and it may take time for him to adapt tactically.

The Clarets have found some form and will be full of confidence as they go to Stamford Bridge having ended Liverpool's long unbeaten home record ten days ago. They followed that 1-0 success with a 3-2 win over Aston Villa at Turf Moor to pull nine points clear of the relegation zone, and have progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 trouncing of Fulham.

However, the Lancashire outfit have a poor record against Chelsea, having won just one of their 13 Premier League meetings while they have lost five of the last six matches, including a 3-0 defeat in the reverse fixture in October.

This fixture has thrown up plenty of goals, with each of the last seven meetings providing at least three, but it is difficult to see history repeating itself on Sunday, given the upheaval at Chelsea as well as Burnley's poor goalscoring record.

The Blues have not scored more than one goal in any of their last six Premier League fixtures, winning one and losing three, while only Sheffield United have scored fewer goals than Burnley's 13.

The Villa success was a noteworthy anomaly on the Clarets' record as each of their previous five top-flight games had finished 1-0, with two wins and three defeats.

Given Chelsea's record against the Clarets, some may be tempted to combine a Blues win with under 2.5 goals but a simple unders bet appeals most.

Key stat

Burnley have scored only five away goals in the Premier League.
