Brighton vs Crystal Palace predictions

Draws have been a common theme in the rivalry between Brighton and Crystal Palace and the pair may have to settle for another share of spoils in Sunday's showdown at the Amex Stadium.

Six of the last ten dust-ups between this pair have ended all-square and, while there is a gulf in their current league positions, they come into the encounter in similar form.

Brighton are on the cusp of the European places and the impact of manager Fabian Hurzeler has been clear to see with the Seagulls suffering only three defeats in their opening 15 games.

However, six of their top-flight matches this season have ended in draws and that includes four of their last six at home against Ipswich, Nottingham Forest, Wolves and Southampton.

Three of those opponents are relegation candidates, highlighting Brighton's struggles at putting lesser opposition to the sword, and 17th-placed Crystal Palace may be similarly awkward opponents.

The Eagles struggled to get going at the beginning of the season under manager Oliver Glasner, coming to terms with the summer sale of Michael Olise to German giants Bayern Munich, but they have now suffered only one defeat in seven and should soon stride clear of relegation trouble.

A 2-2 draw at home to Manchester City last time out highlighted their improvement while they have also held Aston Villa and Newcastle to a point over the last three weeks.

Palace are the league's draw specialists with seven stalemates in 15 outings, however, and their only success on the road this season came at struggling Ipswich, when Jean-Philippe Mateta was on target in a hard-fought 1-0 win.

So it is easy to envisage this game being close, especially with bragging rights up for grabs and both sides in decent touch, and the value may lie with it ending all-square.

Key stat

Brighton are unbeaten in their last six league meetings with Palace, with four of those games resulting in 1-1 draws.
