Bournemouth vs Tottenham predictions

Tottenham's Jekyll and Hyde nature has not made for easy viewing for their fans this season but those supporters could at least be treated to a high-scoring spectacle when they visit Bournemouth on Thursday night.

Spurs have picked up six wins but also suffered five defeats in the Premier League this term, often following impressive performances with lacklustre ones.

That was the case on Sunday when Ange Postecoglou's men were held to a 1-1 home draw by Fulham just eight days after they crushed Manchester City 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

They have not recorded back-to-back league victories since September and their chronic inconsistency means they should be treated with caution by punters.

While Bournemouth do not have the same expectations behind them as Spurs, they have also been inconsistent with their last eight league matches producing four wins, three defeats and one draw.

But one common feature of Bournemouth matches this term has been goals and both of these teams operate on the front foot with similar high-pressing approaches.

Tottenham have applied more pressures on opponents in the final third (911) than any other Premier League club this season, while the Cherries rank second in that metric with 831.

Both teams are known for working hard to win the ball back, putting defences under pressure, and that could result in a chaotic and open affair.

Bournemouth were quick to pounce on defensive blunders from Wolves last Saturday, winning 4-2 at Molineux thanks to a hat-trick of penalties from Justin Kluivert - the first time that has happened in Premier League history.

Thanks to that attacking instinct, they have netted in each of their last six contests, scoring at least twice in four of those games.

That streak also featured home wins over Arsenal and Manchester City, so they know how to unsettle the most assured of defences.

Spurs are even more prolific, having gone into the latest Premier League matchday as the leading scorers in the top flight with 28 goals, meaning they are averaging 2.15 per game.

But their rearguard is not always entirely convincing and four of their last six contests have featured over 3.5 goals, which looks like the best bet.

Former Cherries star Dominic Solanke could be involved in some capacity after missing the Fulham game due to illness, while Bournemouth are set to welcome back key man Antoine Semenyo, so both sides should be strong up front.

Key stat

Three of the last four meetings between these sides have produced at least four goals.

Alex Scott, Julian Araujo, Luis Sinisterra and Lewis Cook are set to miss out but Antoine Semenyo is back from suspension.

Tottenham
Dominic Solanke (illness) could return but is not 100 per cent, while Archie Gray is a doubt and Spurs are still without Cristian Romero, Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert and Mikey Moore, who are injured, as well as suspended midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur.
