Bournemouth vs Arsenal predictions

Title favourites Arsenal can show why they are heading the outright betting by hitting top spot in the Premier League with a win over Bournemouth.

Arsenal's sequence of six successive Premier League away wins was halted by John Stones's dramatic equaliser in last month's 2-2 draw at Manchester City, however, the Gunners are a tough proposition on their travels and should justify odds-on favouritism at the Vitality Stadium.

The betting markets afford plenty of respect to Bournemouth, who are just 4-1 to register their first victory over Arsenal since a 2-0 home success in January 2018.

The Cherries are a positive side and their Premier League expected goals (xG) is 13.5 which is the seventh-highest in the division, however, they have managed just eight goals and displayed defensive vulnerability by failing to keep a clean sheet in 11 consecutive games.

Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola is attack-minded and will ask his team to get after Arsenal and attempt to knock them off their stride.

Iraola's men have won the shot count in each of their three home matches this season, including a 1-0 loss at home to Chelsea when Evanilson's first-half penalty miss was a decisive moment.

Evanilson was Bournemouth's big-money replacement for Dominic Solanke and has already showed some positive signs, including a superb finish in the 3-1 victory at home to Southampton.

But Antoine Semenyo has been their most dangerous attacker – contributing three goals and one assist – and is probably the Cherries' best hope of piercing arguably the strongest defence in the division.

There was a time in the not-too-distant past when Arsenal were considered a soft touch on their travels but these days they are resilient with Gabriel and William Saliba forging a rock-solid centre-back partnership and Declan Rice adding midfield grit.

Mikel Arteta's side have kept clean sheets in nine of their last 11 Premier League away games and one of the exceptions was their impressive rearguard effort in the 2-2 draw at City when Leandro Trossard received a first-half red card.

As well as defending resolutely, Arsenal have impressed in attack.

The Gunners' xG (15.89) is the highest in the league and, while Martin Odegaard's injury has been a blow, it hasn't stopped them from creating chances and scoring goals.

Arteta's outfit have netted 16 times in their last five matches and amassed shot tallies of 35 and 29 in their most recent victories over Leicester (4-2) and Southampton (3-1).

Arsenal are unlikely to be as dominant against Bournemouth, but they should be more tuned into their defensive tasks and look good to get the victory which sends them to the Premier League summit.

Bournemouth vs Arsenal bet builder predictions

Raheem Sterling to score or assist
Sterling was handed his first league start of the season in the 3-1 win at home to Southampton and may be ready to play a match-winning role at Bournemouth.

Under 4.5 cards
Both teams were well behaved in their last match before the international break so a modest card count seems likely.

Lewis Cook to be carded
One of the few players to enter the book could be Bournemouth midfielder Cook, who tops the Premier League foul count with 18.
