Aston Villa vs Brentford predictions

Both of these teams are likely to head into the new year with questions to answer as Aston Villa have struggled to juggle the demands of the Champions League with their domestic duties, while Brentford have failed to match their impressive home form when they have been on their travels.

The Bees have lost five of their six away games, but they have already been to Liverpool, Tottenham and both Manchester clubs so there is scope for their poor road record to improve.

So, despite the fact that Villa haven't won in eight and with it difficult to place much faith in either side, it is worth taking a look at the corner markets.

The Villans look set to make progress in wide areas, so take them to earn at least seven.

Brentford have conceded an average of ten per away game this season - no other top-flight team have had more than eight against - and it is not as if the Bees' total has been inflated by one extraordinary corner-count.

Their largest number conceded was 12 at Manchester City, so we should see a decent number of flag-kicks for the home side.

Key stat

Brentford have conceded at least nine corners in each of their six Premier League away games this season
