Nottingham Forest vs Crystal Palace predictions

The last three Premier League meetings between Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace have ended all-square and it could be a case of deja vu on Monday Night Football from the City Ground.

Palace are one of only four sides in the Premier League yet to record a top-flight victory this season and manager Oliver Glasner may be starting to feel some pressure, with the Eagles’ only two wins this term coming against Championship opposition in the EFL Cup.

It is a far cry from what was expected given the way in which Palace finished last season, winning seven of their final eight games, and they inherit the league’s bluntest attack with only five goals scored from their seven outings.

Michael Olise’s big-money departure to Bayern Munich seems to have hit harder than anticipated and they are still waiting for star forwards Jean-Philippe Mateta and Eberechi Eze to hit peak form.

The Eagles have earned draws with Chelsea and Manchester United this season but they have also lost away at Brentford and Everton, highlighting their early-season inconsistency.

But with only ten goals conceded in seven games, they do boast the best defence of those currently in the bottom eight and they remain well-organised and difficult to break down.

Palace recorded a clean sheet against United while Liverpool had to scrap their way to a 1-0 win at Selhurst Park in their final game before the most recent international break, with a ninth-minute Diogo Jota strike all that separated the sides.

With Forest also proving resilient - only Liverpool have conceded fewer than their total of six in seven games - it is easy to see the pair cancelling one another out.

The Tricky Trees have looked assured under the services of Nuno Espirito Santo and those defensive attributes have inspired them to a 1-0 victory against Liverpool at Anfield plus helped them to a 1-1 draw at Chelsea.

However, with only seven goals scored in as many matches, Forest would like to carry more of a scoring threat and having playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White ruled out is a big blow to their chances.

Forest have drawn four of their opening seven games, which includes home fixtures with Bournemouth and Wolves, while they have also been beaten 1-0 by visiting Fulham.

It means six of their seven games have featured two goals or fewer and a repeat scenario enhances the chances of a draw, which has also been the outcome in three of Palace’s last five top-flight matches.
