Saturday's Nations League predictions

The Luxembourg national team are not quite the whipping boys of European football that they once were, but there is little doubt that the side from the Grand Duchy are going through a slump and things may get more difficult when they head to Bulgaria.

The Red Lions have failed to score in five of their last six matches and in their last four road encounters, so they could struggle to find the net against stubborn opponents.

While Luxembourg have fallen to defeats to Northern Ireland and Belarus, Bulgaria have taken four points from the same opponents, beating Michael O'Neill's team 1-0 last time out when PAOK's Kiril Despodov scored the winning goal.

Ilian Iliev's team are unbeaten in eight and will be frustrated that six of those games finished in draws, but this looks a good opportunity for them to kick on against shot-shy opponents, so they can win without conceding in Plovdiv.

Switzerland beat Serbia 3-2 in an entertaining clash at the last World Cup, but it seems unlikely that their meeting in Leskovac will be a similarly open affair.

There have been just four goals in Serbia's last five matches, a run which includes an underwhelming group performance at the Euros, and confidence is unlikely to be high after just one win in their last seven outings.

The question is whether Switzerland will be able to benefit. They showed flashes of ability in Germany this summer, most notably when they beat defending European champions Italy 2-0 in the last 16, but they have not been able to kick on following that.

That triumph in Berlin has been their only victory in their last seven outings and 11 of their last 14 games have featured fewer than three goals.

With the Swiss having drawn nine of their last 17 games and Serbia three of their last five, it would not be a surprise if their Group A4 meeting finished level.
