England vs Greece predictions
England interim manager Lee Carsley enhanced his chances of a permanent appointment with back-to-back 2-0 Nations League victories last month and another smooth success is expected when the Three Lions host Greece.
Early goals from Declan Rice and Jack Grealish gave Carsley the perfect start to his first match in charge away to Ireland.
Record goalscorer Harry Kane marked his 100th cap with a second-half brace to see off Finland in England's second Group B2 game although he is not certain to start against Greece after suffering a knock while playing for Bayern Munich.
Those victories were achieved without Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Ollie Watkins and Cole Palmer, who are available for this week's fixtures against Greece and Finland.
The embarrassment of attacking riches is illustrated by the fact that Palmer, England Men's Player of the Year award, was restricted to five substitute appearances during the run to the final of Euro 2024.
Relegated to the second tier of the Nations League in September 2022, England controlled their games against Ireland and Finland well, allowing eight shots at goal – only one of which was on target.
That suggests splitting stakes between a 2-0 and 3-0 home victory is the way to go in the correct-score market, especially as Greece are missing injured striker Fotis Ioannidis.
The Panathinaikos man scored three of Greece's five goals in last month's wins to nil against Finland and Ireland and one of the other two was an own goal from Finnish forward Benjamin Kallman.
Crowned European champions in 2004, Greece have failed to qualify for the last three European Championship finals.
They lost on penalties to Georgia after a goalless 120 minutes in March's Euro 2024 playoff and their promising start to the Nations League campaign is likely to be dented at Wembley.
Greece lost 1-0 to France and 3-0 to the Netherlands in their two toughest away fixtures in Euro 2024 qualifying and Carsley will demand another fluent, focused performance from England.
