Betis should bat away Valencia

The La Liga title race has been enthralling this season, but the battle for fifth spot and qualification for the Europa League is also reaching an intriguing conclusion.

Real Sociedad, Real Betis and Villarreal are separated by just a single point with eight games remaining and with Sociedad hosting Sevilla and Villarreal facing a tricky trip to Levante this weekend, Betis can capitalise when they lock horns with lowly Valencia on Sunday.

The Andalusians are fresh from holding title challengers Atletico Madrid to a 1-1 draw and have now lost only once in their last eight fixtures. Their sole defeat in that run came away to rivals Sevilla and even on that occasion they won the shot count 13-9.

Opponents Valencia, on the other hand, have won only eight of their 30 league matches in 2020-21 and boss Javi Gracia looks unsure of his best system, fielding a total 29 players in La Liga this season - one of the highest tallies in the division.

They have failed to win four of their last six games, losing all three away fixtures in that sequence, and are worth opposing at the Benito Villamarin.
