England Women vs Germany Women predictions

Memories of the Lionesses's finest hour will come flooding back when Germany return to Wembley for the first time since losing the Euro 2022 final to Chloe Kelly's extra-time goal and a hefty crowd should be treated to a decent spectacle.

Qualification for next year's Euros in Switzerland has been secured and the desire to show signals of intent should be strong, particularly for the visitors who play their first match under Christian Wuck after Horst Hrubesch led them to a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics.

Wuck has spent most of his career in the German male youth set-up, so this is a step up in responsibility, but he takes over a team who were full of goals in their qualifiers, where a 3-0 loss to Iceland was the only slip-up.

They scored at least three times in each of their other five games – Poland and Austria made up the section – and we can expect the Lionesses to get on the front foot too.

Sarina Wiegman's team have lost just two of their last 30 home matches and should be positive after failing to score in their last three friendlies on English soil.

Lauren James's return is a boost too and given that three of the last four meetings have featured three goals – the exception was the Euros final which finishes 2-1 after extra-time – there looks a decent chance that this could be an entertaining encounter.
