Tuesday's EFL preview

Promotion-chasing Oxford are unbeaten in their last seven League One games despite having had to deal with a major coronavirus outbreak and they can climb into the playoff positions by beating relegation-threatened Doncaster.

Oxford manager Karl Robinson has had to get creative with his team selections because he was without 13 players, including seven who tested positive for Covid-19, for last month's home games against Fleetwood and Rotherham.

To their credit Oxford picked up four points from those matches and their squad looked a lot stronger for Saturday's 1-1 draw at Sunderland.

A top-six finish is Oxford's minimum target, but mere survival looks a long shot for second-bottom Donny, who sacked Richie Wellens last Thursday.

Caretaker-manager Gary McSheffrey presided over a 3-2 loss at home to League Two Mansfield in the FA Cup second round and faces a tougher challenge for his second game at the helm.

Rovers are low on confidence and players due to a combination of poor results and several injuries and their struggles look set to continue.

James Rowberry has made a positive impression in his first seven weeks as Newport manager and can lead them to victory over League Two playoff-chasing rivals Sutton at Rodney Parade.

The Exiles have picked up 11 points from six games under their new gaffer, thanks largely to star striker Dominic Telford, who has netted 11 goals in his last seven league appearances.

Fourth-tier defences have found it tough to handle Telford, and Sutton may struggle to come up with the answers.

The Amber and Chocolates have shipped six goals in their last two away games and could be heading for defeat in south Wales.

Harrogate registered one of the biggest shocks of FA Cup second round weekend, winning 2-1 at Portsmouth, but their League Two promotion push could be dented by a home defeat to leaders Forest Green.

Simon Weaver's side triumphed at Fratton Park despite a lengthy injury list - they filled just four of the nine available substitute slots- but the hectic schedule could catch up with them against Rovers, who benefited from a free weekend.
