Saturday's European football predictions

It could be argued that no player was more ecstatic to see Hansi Flick named Barcelona manager than Robert Lewandowski, who scored 83 goals in 71 games under the German at Bayern Munich.

Their reunion has gone as well as expected too, with Lewandowski netting seven goals in eight league games to help Barca quickly reach the La Liga summit.

Facing an Alaves side who conceded twice against goal-shy Getafe – they had scored only two in their previous six games – Barca and Lewandowski could get plenty of chances.

The Polish marksman netted three goals in two games against Alaves last term and could help himself to a couple more this time.

The first Seville derby of the season comes next in the Spanish schedule, with home advantage set to play a big part.

Sevilla endured a difficult start to the campaign but have picked up seven points from their last four matches and look in better form than Real Betis, who will be low on fitness and morale after a 1-0 defeat at Legia Warsaw on Thursday.

Given Sevilla have won five and drawn the other two of their last seven home meetings with their rivals, they are worth backing to have the upper hand again.

Kylian Mbappe's departure had Paris St-Germain fans worrying about where their goals would come from this term.

However, their fears have been quickly alleviated thanks to Bradley Barcola, who has netted six goals in as many Ligue 1 games this season.

The tricky winger scored twice against Rennes last Friday and should get plenty of opportunities against Nice, who conceded four to Lazio on Thursday, making him an appealing bet to net in this fixture, just as he did last term.
