Sunday European football predictions

Mallorca vs Atletico Madrid

Mallorca and Atletico Madrid have the best defensive records in La Liga this season, with the hosts conceding nine goals in their 12 matches while the visitors have allowed just seven in the same number of games.

Atleti go into this clash on a high after beating Paris Saint-Germain in the French capital in midweek, a crucial win after a bad start in Europe.

Meanwhile Mallorca have been solid and went into the weekend eighth in the Spanish top flight.

Antoine Griezmann could be the key to breaking the deadlock in what looks likely to be a cagey affair.

The French international has four goals and six assists from 14 starts this season and has the touch of class to make a difference in this game.

Montpellier vs Brest

Brest have been one of the surprise packages in the Champions League this season, taking ten points from their first four games to sit fourth in the table.

While they have failed to replicate that form domestically, they will not get many better opportunities for an away win than a trip to Montpellier.

The home team have lost eight of their ten league outings, conceding a whopping 30 goals in the process. Their 1-0 loss last time out came against second-bottom Le Havre.

Brest can deepen the woes of a listless Montpellier outfit in this encounter.

Inter vs Napoli

The last two winners of the Scudetto, Napoli and Inter, are the current top two in the Serie A standings and face off in a blockbuster clash on Sunday evening.

The Partenopei’s success this term has been built on rock-solid defensive foundations - they have conceded just eight times in 11 league games and three of those came in last week’s shock defeat to Atalanta.

Expect Antonio Conte to set up his team to be hard to beat at San Siro and a cagey affair could ensue as a result.

The away side have kept four consecutive clean sheets on the road and can keep things tight against an Inter team who have seen four of their last six games go under 2.5 goals.
