Sunday's European football predictions

Eintracht Frankfurt surrendered a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 at home to Viktoria Plzen in their Europa League opener on Thursday, but the Eagles are going great guns in the Bundesliga and should have too much firepower for leaky Holstein Kiel.

Frankfurt were beaten 2-0 at Dortmund in their Bundesliga curtain-raiser but they have responded with three straight victories over Hoffenheim, Wolfsburg and Monchengladbach.

Dino Toppmoller's side have scored seven times during that run and their in-form forwards should have an enjoyable time of things at Kiel, who are rooted to the foot of the German top flight with only one point from four games.

The hosts are finding things tough following last season’s promotion, having already endured a 6-1 hiding from Bayern at home and conceded at least twice in every outing.

In Ligue 1, goals should flow as Marseille bid to maintain their unbeaten start to the season at Strasbourg.

OM have taken 13 points from five games, with their only setback coming in a 2-2 draw at home to Reims, and they have been prolific, scoring 15 goals.

However, both teams have scored in four of Marseille's five matches and the trend can continue at Strasbourg, who were involved in a 3-3 thriller at Lille last weekend.

Strasbourg have also lost 4-3 at Lyon this season, highlighting their gung-ho approach, and the net has bulged at both ends in their last nine Ligue 1 outings.

Celta Vigo have lost four of their last five matches in La Liga but Los Celestes may be able to stop the rot at home to Girona, who are struggling to live up to last season’s expectations.

Celta were beaten 1-0 at home to Atletico Madrid on Thursday but they acquitted themselves well and were unfortunate, having conceded in stoppage-time despite restricting their opponents to only two shots on target.

Before that, Celta had won their opening three home league games and they can get the better of Girona, who are without a victory in four and have not scored a goal in three.
