Saturday's European football predictions

Patrick Vieira has steered Genoa away from the Serie A relegation zone since his arrival last month but his side could be up against it when they host Napoli on Saturday.

Atalanta lead the way in Serie A but Napoli are just two points behind them, having won 11 of their 16 matches in the top flight.

And while their 3-1 win over Udinese last time out demonstrated their attacking verve, they have been adept at grinding out low-scoring wins this season, winning four of their last nine league matches by a 1-0 scoreline.

After losing star forward Matteo Retegui in the summer, Genoa have had to adopt a more defensive style of play and they head into this contest on a run of three straight clean sheets in Serie A.

Napoli should have the edge but this could be cagey and backing an away win and under 3.5 goals looks the way to go.

Mainz stunned Bayern Munich 2-1 last Saturday but that was by no means a one-off performance from Bo Henriksen's side, who have won four of their last five Bundesliga assignments.

That run also included victory over Borussia Dortmund and the top-six hopefuls are worth chancing against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Frankfurt are in contention for the Champions League places but goals from Omar Marmoush have started to dry up and they have failed to win any of their last four games in all competitions.

Mainz can be a tough nut to crack and they are overpriced at Deutsche Bank Park on Saturday.
