Saturday European football predictions

Both editions of Der Klassiker last season were won by the away team, and Bayern Munich can continue that trend when they face Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday.

The Bavarians have played with ruthless intensity in this season's Bundesliga, winning nine and drawing two of their 11 matches under Vincent Kompany.

Their attacking exploits are no secret - Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala are enjoying great seasons - but it is Bayern's resolute rearguard which should see them over the line against Dortmund.

Kompany's side have not conceded in 450 minutes of Bundesliga football and they have reeled off seven straight wins to nil since October's 4-1 mauling by Barcelona.

Bayern remain one of the most well-drilled teams on the continent and they look set to spoil Dortmund's perfect home record of six wins from six matches in the league.

Nuri Sahin's side are a tough nut to crack on their own patch but they have been inconsistent overall, losing to Union Berlin, Real Madrid, Augsburg, Wolfsburg and Mainz since the start of October.

A Bayern win to nil is tempting given the away side's defensive prowess but the more sensible approach is an away victory and under 4.5 goals in a fixture which rarely disappoints.

Celta Vigo have established themselves mid-table in La Liga, picking up five points in their last three games following their 2-2 draw with Barcelona last Saturday.

They should prove too strong for this weekend's opponents Espanyol, who after last season's promotion, are in the relegation mix after a run of four consecutive losses in Spain's top flight.
