Wednesday's Europa League predictions

Nice beat Saint-Etienne 8-0 in their last Ligue 1 fixture and confidence will be sky high as they go into a Europa League tie against Real Sociedad.

The Spaniards reached the knockout stage of the Champions League last term before falling short against Paris Saint-Germain and they subsequently lost two of their key players over the summer, Mikel Merino and Alexander Sorloth.

The White and Blues are still a competitive outfit, however, and it may take one of Nice’s summer acquisitions to unlock their defence.

Youssoufa Moukoko was very highly thought of at Dortmund, making his debut a day after his 16th birthday and also becoming the youngest player to feature for Germany at a World Cup in Qatar.

However he struggled for game time at BVB and has signed on loan for Nice.

Moukoko celebrated his first league start with two goals last time out and given his impressive goal ratio, he looks overpriced to get on the scoresheet again.

Hoffenheim have had a poor start to the Bundesliga season and they face a difficult opening to their Europa League campaign, travelling to face Danish side Midtjylland.

The visitors have been far too open defensively this term, conceding 11 times in four league games, and they needed a penalty shootout to get past fourth-tier side Wurzburger Kickers in the German Cup after a 2-2 draw.

Four of their five matches in all competitions have gone over 3.5 goals and this looks set to be another high-scoring clash given the German side’s struggles at the back.

Midtjylland have been in fine goalscoring form, netting at least twice in six of their last seven games in all competitions.

They top the Danish Superliga after lifting the title in dramatic fashion last term and are primed for a big European run this season.

Four of their last five matches have gone over 3.5 goals and a repeat of that is fancied in this game.
