Tottenham vs Roma predictions
Tottenham's results either side of this month's international break illustrated their tendency to lurch from triumph to disaster under Ange Postecoglou.
Spurs players left to join up with their national teams after a 3-2 Europa League loss at Galatasaray and a shock 2-1 home defeat to 10-1 shots Ipswich in the Premier League.
However, Postecoglou's men returned to action with a scintillating 4-0 league victory against Manchester City, ending the champions' 52-game unbeaten run at the Etihad Stadium.
Tottenham are not renowned for their consistency but they had won seven of their eight home games in all competitions this season before the loss to Ipswich.
A Europa League fixture against troubled Roma looks a good opportunity to extend that impressive record on their own patch, despite the absence of injured goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.
Radu Dragusin and Ben Davies stood firm at the heart of Tottenham's defence against City on Saturday and visitors Roma have struggled for goals in Europe.
Veteran manager Claudio Ranieri has returned for a third spell in charge of the club after Daniele De Rossi was sacked in September and his successor Ivan Juric lasted less than two months in the job.
Ranieri's debut last weekend ended in a 1-0 defeat at Serie A leaders Napoli in a game featuring only three shots on target.
Roma have scored just three goals, including a penalty, in four Europa League matches this term and their first two away trips produced a 1-0 defeat to Elfsborg and a 1-1 draw at Union Saint-Gilloise.
Tottenham have plenty of options in midfield and attack, with Rodrigo Bentancur available despite a domestic suspension.
All three of their Europa League wins, against Qarabag, Ferencvaros and AZ Alkmaar, featured under 3.5 goals and another low-key victory is expected against Ranieri's Roma.
Key stat
Roma's four Europa League matches this season have produced only six goals
