Rangers vs FCSB predictions

Rangers missed a glorious chance to make up ground on Celtic in the William Hill Scottish Premiership title race at the weekend but their attention must now switch to the Europa League when they welcome in-form FCSB to Ibrox on Thursday.

The Gers slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock on Sunday – a result made worse by the fact Celtic dropped points in a 2-2 draw with fellow highflyers Aberdeen the day before.

It means Rangers already trail the league leaders by six points but they can seek solace in the Europa League, a competition in which they reached the final in 2022.

The Light Blues began the competition on the front foot with a 2-0 win over Malmo in September but were humbled 4-1 by Lyon in their first home game earlier this month.

And now they welcome one of only five teams to have won both of their Europa League fixtures in FCSB.

Formerly known as Steaua Bucharest, FCSB beat RFS 4-1 on matchday one and PAOK 1-0 on matchday two but Rangers at Ibrox will represent a serious step up in quality.

And despite conceding just once across those two Europa League fixtures, FCSB conceded an almighty 38 shots, so will likely be punished by a stronger Rangers unit.

The visitors are missing key man and captain Darius Olaru, who is suspended, while midfield anchor Adrian Sut is also unavailable and they could struggle to handle the atmosphere at Ibrox with influential players absent.

Rangers are the bet to win but it could be a gritty affair, so it is worth combining with under 3.5 goals.

Key stat

Five of FCSB's last eight games have featured under 3.5 goals.

Rangers vs FCSB bet builder predictions

Rangers to win
Rangers lost to Kilmarnock at the weekend but have a solid enough haul of three points in the Europa League and can see off an FCSB team missing key players.

Cyriel Dessers to score
Cyriel Dessers has scored three goals in the Scottish Premiership already this term and can find the net.

Daniel Birligea to have a shot on target
With star man Darius Olaru missing, there will be added pressure on striker Daniel Birligea to perform and he can at least force a shot on target.
