Olympiakos vs Rangers predictions

Wins over Malmo and FCSB in the Europa League have given Rangers some respite for what is turning into a miserable domestic campaign, but the Light Blues could be in for a tough time of it when they head to Greece to take on Olympiakos.

Manager Philippe Clement can hardly escape the nine-point gap that separates the Gers from Celtic and Aberdeen at the top of the Scottish Premiership, and while reaching the League Cup final with a weekend win over Motherwell was a timely tonic, the pressure could be ramped up on the beleaguered Belgian after this clash.

Olympiakos have been no great shakes in the league themselves. Fourth place after ten games is an underwhelming return but they are a tough nut to crack on their own patch, where they have not lost in their last 12 outings.

Jose Luis Mendilibar's side have risen to the Europa challenge after claiming the Conference League title last season, when they beat Fiorentina in the final after beating Aston Villa 6-2 on aggregate in the last four, so they have some strong recent form in continental competition.

They have already beaten Braga and Malmo this season and striker Ayoub El Kaabi has again been the star of the show following a haul of 17 league goals last season.

The Moroccan scored the winner in Sweden and twice in the 3-0 win over Braga, and having had a total of six shots on target in their three Europa outings, he looks a likely first goalscorer in Piraeus, particularly as he scored five of their six goals against Villa and the winner in their Conference League final success last term.

Key stat

Olympiakos are unbeaten in their last 12 home matches.
