Nice vs Rangers predictions

Rangers trail Celtic by 11 points in the Scottish Premiership but they are going well in the Europa League and can edge a step closer to knockout stage qualification when they take on Nice in the south of France.

Pressure is mounting on the Gers, who lost further ground in the title race after drawing 1-1 at home to Dundee United on Saturday.

But they often raise their game for Europa League nights and are well placed in the League Phase having taking seven points from four games.

Philippe Clement 's side have performed well on their European travels, winning 2-0 against Malmo and drawing 1-1 away to Olympiakos, and they should fancy their chances of taking at least another point against Nice, who are 31st in the section having mustered just two points.

Nice have done better in domestic games and climbed to fifth in Ligue 1 after Sunday's 2-1 triumph at home to Strasbourg, but they have limited options for the visit of Rangers as their lengthy injury list is compounded by suspensions for attacker Sofiane Diop and influential centre-back Moise Bombito.

The lack of options should mean a second start in five days for 41-year-old former Bayern Munich defender Dante, who has collected yellow cards in each of his last three appearances.

And, while Dante's experience is invaluable, his ageing limbs could be exposed by the Gers, who have scored on each of their last four Europa League road trips.

Clement needs to get his team nearer to Celtic in the Scottish standings, but strong Europa League performances have bolstered his position and the trend may continue this week.
