Manchester United vs Bodo/Glimt predictions

Ruben Amorim warned Manchester United supporters that they may have to "suffer" as he implements new plans on his side and his opening Europa League assignment with Bodo/Glimt may not be as straightforward as the betting suggests.

The Red Devils could barely have started life under Amorim any better as Marcus Rashford gave them the lead inside 90 seconds in his first taste of Premier League action away at Ipswich on Sunday.

However, Ipswich went on to claim a point in a 1-1 draw and created the better opportunities as the contest developed, supporting Amorim’s point that United remain a work in progress.

United operated in a new 3-4-2-1 system against the Tractor Boys but they were light on centre-backs without Victor Lindelof, Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez and defensive frailties remained evident.

Amorim will want to get his first win on the board as quickly as possible and that should ensure a strong squad is deployed, but Bodo/Glimt carry an attacking threat and can’t be underestimated.

The Eliteserien leaders have taken seven points from their four Europa League fixtures, recording wins over Porto and Braga, two sides former Sporting boss Amorim knows extremely well.

It means both teams have scored in three of the Norwegian side’s four Europa League fixtures and the trend may continue against United, who have an identical record.

The Red Devils built on score draws with Twente, Porto and Fenerbahce by recording a 2-0 victory at home to PAOK but, while defensive injuries persist, backing both teams to score may be safer than taking short prices about a home win.

Key stat

Both teams have scored in seven of United’s last ten matches.
