England Women vs USA Women predictions
It is just over two years since the Lionesses posted a 2-1 victory over the USA at Wembley, but there looks a strong chance the scoreline will be reversed when they meet again at the national stadium on Saturday.
The game brings together the top two teams in Fifa's world rankings, but England have had their odd wobble since they lost to Spain in last year's World Cup final, while their American visitors have steadied the ship following their shock last-16 exit in Australia.
They won the Concacaf Gold Cup and then, under former Chelsea manager Emma Hayes, took the gold medal at the Paris Olympics by grinding out victories over Japan and Germany, both of whom were beaten 1-0 in extra-time, and then a win by the same score in the final against Brazil.
Those results lifted them back to the top of the women's international game, and there has been evidence that reigning European champions England still have a gap to narrow.
It was only last month that Sarina Wiegman's side found themselves 3-0 down at home to Germany in a friendly they lost 4-3 in their last Wembley appearance, and they also stuttered at home in the Euros qualifiers, losing 2-1 to France in Newcastle and drawing 1-1 with Sweden.
The preceding Nations League campaign was also a disappointment with defeats to the Netherlands and Belgium, and they may find the Americans too strong in what is likely to be a tight encounter.
