West Brom vs Bristol City predictions

West Brom made a blistering start to the season with 16 points from their first six games, but ten draws in their last 13 matches mean the Baggies’ promotion bid has stalled.

Albion have lost just three times all season but 11 stalemates, the joint-most in the Championship, means they find themselves outside the playoff places ahead of some crunch Christmas fixtures.

Carlos Corberan’s side don’t concede many goals – they’ve shipped just 16 in 21 league outings – but they average just 1.14 strikes per game themselves and half of their 24-goal tally were netted in their opening seven league fixtures.

Bristol City, who head to the Hawthorns on Sunday, have also been involved in their fair share of stalemates this season (nine), four of which have come on their travels.

They too have had problems in front of goal, averaging only slightly more per game than West Brom at 1.23.

Liam Manning’s Robins have won at Middlesbrough, Preston and Norwich this season and drawn at home with Leeds and at Sunderland on their last awayday, when they were denied victory in stoppage time, so they are capable and should threaten the Baggies.

But given the goal-shy nature of both sides, there is every possibility that one goal could be enough if either is able to break the deadlock.

Under 1.5 goals looks a decent price while a small interest on no goalscorer is also worth considering.

Key stat

West Brom have scored just eight goals in ten home league matches this season.
