Salford v Port Vale

The race for the League Two playoffs is as eye-catching as anything further up the pyramid with just five points separating Port Vale in third from Sutton in 11th.

Vale can strengthen their hand if they win at another playoff rival Salford, though it's the Ammies who are preferred to get the win which would see them move to within a point of the Valiants.

Both are going well but Vale's midfield looks threadbare with skipper Tom Conlon and star man Tom Pett ruled out while Brad Walker limped out of Saturday's 2-1 win at Barrow.

Salford are unbeaten since the end of January and go into the game on a run of four straight wins.

Bolton v Portsmouth

They went into the League One season as two of the section's superpowers and fancying promotion yet Bolton and Portsmouth will still be around next term.

Bolton, optimistic after winning promotion last term, have lost the most matches of any side in tier three's top half and that has to give Pompey a sniff.

Portsmouth are nicely rested after a week off, and although their fate has been sealed by a run of two points out of a possible nine, that tally came from difficult games against Ipswich, Plymouth and Wycombe. The damage was done far earlier in the season.

Before their pre-break blemishes, Pompey had taken 19 points out of a possible 21 and can snatch victory at a Bolton side who have scored only three goals in their last four games.

AFC Wimbledon v Charlton

The Dons might have left it too late to save their skins by appointing Mark Bowen as boss with just seven games remaining, but the Welshman has immediately made a mark.

Bowen made plenty of changes for his first game in charge, a daunting trip to Sheffield Wednesday, and was rewarded with a really decent performance but a heartbreaking loss, going down 2-1 to Lee Gregory's late effort.

They should, however, be a little more confident going into their South London bunfight with Charlton, who are in no great shape.

This is their seventh game in a month and they will be without the services of Alex Gilbey, who was sent off in Saturday's 2-1 home loss to Lincoln.
