Sheffield United vs Sheffield Wednesday predictions
Any fears that Sheffield United would not recover from their dismal Premier League relegation last season have been quickly dispelled and the Blades can maintain their push for an immediate return to the top flight in their derby against Wednesday.
Chris Wilder's side were cannon fodder for the big boys last term but they have conceded just two goals in six home games, both of which came in their opening clash against QPR, which means they are in a strong position for the first Steel City clash since March 2019.
Their two defeats have come against Leeds and Middlesbrough, both of whom are likely to join them in the promotion shake-up, and the consistency Wilder has generated is just what the Owls could do with across town at Hillsborough.
Wednesday were boosted by a 2-0 home win over Norwich but that came after a 6-2 home humbling by Watford, so it is difficult to gauge what sort of performance we might get from Danny Rohl's outfit.
They have won at strugglers Coventry and Portsmouth but this is a lot tougher for a team who have scored just five times in their six away games.
Backing a home win to nil is a tempting but perhaps risky strategy in a derby game, so the fact United have not scored more than twice in any match this season means betting on a Blades victory in a game featuring no more than three goals may be a more sensible approach.
