Leeds and Burnley remain as they started as the top two in the Championship title betting and their showdown at Elland Road will be an early opportunity for one of the pair to send out a statement in their pursuit of a Premier League return.

A frantic 3-3 draw with Portsmouth on the opening weekend of the season is now a distant memory for Leeds, who have kept three straight clean sheets having built on a goalless game at West Brom with 2-0 wins over Sheffield Wednesday and Hull.

Daniel Farke’s side remain unbeaten and appear to have adjusted well to losing Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray to the Premier League.

Burnley pose their toughest test yet but, having flown out the traps with nine goals scored in victories over Luton and Cardiff, they’ve since stalled.

The Clarets managed just four shots and hit the target only once in a 1-0 defeat at Sunderland, while they forced only three shots on target in a 1-1 draw at home to Lancashire rivals Blackburn despite having 73 per cent possession.

With a lengthy injury list to contend with, Scott Parker’s side may grow into the season but they could come out second best at Elland Road.

There are five more matches taking place in the EFL on Sky Sports+ at 12.30pm and goals may be in short supply as League Two rivals AFC Wimbledon and MK Dons cross swords at Plough Lane.

The Wombles have won three of their last four matches 1-0, which includes League Two fixtures with Cheltenham and Fleetwood, while Dons are yet to click into gear with three of their last four league fixtures going under 2.5 goals.
