QPR vs Luton predictions
‘I’m not stepping away from this’ was the cry from Rob Edwards this week as he staked his claim that he is still the right man to turn around Luton's fortunes but, if things carry on how they are, that choice may be taken away from him.
The Hatters’ return to the Championship could not be going much worse, with Edwards’ men sat just five points ahead of bottom side Plymouth.
A decent spell in November and early December has been swiftly undone by a run of four losses in five outings and Luton's miserable form looks set to continue on their short hop to the capital.
QPR are proving tough to beat, losing just one of their last ten matches, and Loftus Road is becoming a fortress for Marti Cifuentes’ men.
The Hoops are unbeaten in five fixtures on their own patch and the fact they have won each of their last four home games makes them worthy favourites for this clash.
Cifuentes has masterminded four consecutive wins at Loftus Road, impressively beating playoff-chasing Norwich and Watford in that run, and a Luton side in desperate need of points are unlikely to be granted their wish.
Edwards would be happy with a point from this match but nine consecutive away losses for the Hatters suggests that even a draw could be out of reach for the strugglers.
Luton have shipped 25 goals in that run and QPR, boosted by the recent return of star striker Michael Frey, should have no issues exploiting that weak defence to take all three points.
Key stat
Luton have lost their last nine away games, conceding 25 goals in that run
