Plymouth vs Watford predictions

Watford have stayed in the Championship promotion race despite losing six of eight away games and they may be too slick for struggling Plymouth in south Devon.

Having to play on a Friday after the international break is a challenge for the Hertfordshire side because four of their players - Ken Sema, Edo Kayembe, Giorgi Chakvetadze and Vakoun Bayo – were in action for their national teams on Tuesday.

However, there is plenty of depth in the Watford squad while Francisco Sierralta and Moussa Sissoko are back from suspension.

Watford head coach Tom Cleverley will be forced into at least one change with Festy Ebosele serving a one-game ban but he won't want to veer too far from the side who posted a 1-0 success at home to Oxford last time out.

While Watford spent the international break in sixth place, Plymouth were happy to be just outside the drop zone thanks to their hard-fought 1-1 draw at Derby.

The Pilgrims' point at Pride Park was only the second they had picked up from eight road trips. They have had a lot more success on home soil, taking 14 points from a possible 21.

Wayne Rooney's side have reeled off four home wins although the most recent – a 1-0 success over second-bottom Portsmouth – was far from convincing with the shot count finishing 14 to ten in Pompey's favour.

Portsmouth paid the price for some wayward finishing but their mistakes are unlikely to be repeated by Watford, who look a solid wager with the draw no bet.
