Millwall vs Luton predictions

Millwall signed off for the international break with a superb 3-0 home victory over Sheffield Wednesday and the Lions could give the Den faithful even more to shout about against Luton on Saturday.

Last season was a rollercoaster ride for Millwall, who parted company with two managers, Gary Rowett and Joe Edwards, and were at risk of relegation before finishing with the wind in their sails.

It was a case of third time lucky for the Lions, who turned to club legend Neil Harris in February and quickly rediscovered their identity.

The Lions were 21st at the time of Harris's reappointment – he had previously been in charge at the Den from 2015 until 2019 – but went on to take 26 points from their last 13 games and finished 13th.

Harris has had a summer to reshape his squad and they appear to have clicked into gear quickly.

The Londoners have kept successive clean sheets and were worthy three-goal victors over Wednesday after winning the shot count 18-4.

Confidence is rising in the Millwall ranks but a lack of belief could be an issue for Luton, who are struggling to readjust to life back in the Championship and find themselves in the relegation zone after taking just one point from a possible 12.

Luton are creating plenty of chances – their combined expected-goals figure for their first four matches stands at a healthy 6.38 – but the fact they have scored just once is a damning indictment of their finishing.

The Hatters were beaten 2-1 at home to QPR in their last league outing and anyone who watched the game will have witnessed a team under pressure.

Rob Edwards' side will improve at some point but they are going through a tough period and they may have to endure further pain before it gets better.
