Derby vs Swansea predictions

Home is where the heart is for Derby and the reliable Rams can maintain their strong form at fortress Pride Park with victory over Swansea.

Last season’s promotion from League One was inspired by Derby’s excellent home form as they won 15 and drew four of their 23 outings at Pride Park and it has been the catalyst for their happy start to life in the Championship.

Paul Warne’s side have collected 14 of their 20 points at home, winning four and drawing two of their seven second-tier fixtures in the East Midlands, headlined by victories over Middlesbrough and Bristol City.

Derby’s sole defeat in their last eight league games came in a 2-1 reverse at Stoke and they should be hopeful of bolstering their mid-table position against the inconsistent Swans, who have lost five of their eight road trips.

Swansea have to pick themselves up quickly from Sunday’s 4-3 defeat at home to title favourites Leeds and they have struggled for creativity on the road, failing to score on five occasions.

It may prove difficult for the Welsh visitors to break down a disciplined Derby defence that has been breached only five times in seven home league outings.

Warne will have to shuffle his pack with leading scorer Jerry Yates ineligible to face his parent club, but one goal may be enough to land the spoils and they are by far the more likely victors.
