Burnley vs Preston predictions
Burnley have racked up ten points from four games since the September internationals and they can sign off for the next break with a victory over Lancashire rivals Preston.
It has been an encouraging start to the season for the Clarets, who are averaging 2.13 points per game without playing to anywhere near their full potential.
The summer was a difficult period for Burnley with several key players leaving and many new recruits arriving towards the end of the transfer window. But they have navigated the first eight games in impressive fashion and put down a marker three weeks ago by beating title favourites Leeds 1-0 at Elland Road.
To this point Scott Parker's side have not played the free-flowing football which was a feature of their 2022-23 promotion-winning campaign but they have developed a winning habit and are looking solid at the back with only four league goals conceded.
While Burnley have their eyes fixed on promotion, Preston are anxious to climb away from the lower end of the table.
The Lilywhites went into Wednesday's clash at home to Watford inside the bottom three but responded with a superb 3-0 win which stands out as their best performance of the season.
However, a lot of effort went into Preston's midweek success and it is far from ideal that they take on Burnley less than three days later.
North End appear to be improving under Paul Heckingbottom but they have taken just two points from their last nine Championship road trips and may struggle to avoid a derby defeat this weekend.
