Burnley vs Blackburn predictions

Burnley's fast start to the season hit the buffers last Saturday with a 1-0 loss at Sunderland but Scott Parker's side can make it three wins from four Championship games by defeating bitter rivals Blackburn at Turf Moor.

It would be fair to say that Burnley have dominated Rovers in recent times.

The Clarets have beaten Blackburn in the last six meetings and finished higher in the football pyramid every year since 2012 when their rivals were last relegated from the Premier League.

However, there is always a competitive edge when the teams lock horns and a little extra spice is guaranteed because Blackburn approach the game in third place – two positions and one point better off than their hosts.

Blackburn finished 19th last season and, after getting off to a slow start with their summer recruitment drive, they were widely expected to struggle even before the sale of Championship Golden Boot winner Sammie Szmodics to Ipswich.

But they have made the most of a kind set of fixtures by picking up victories at home to newly-promoted pair Derby (4-2) and Oxford (2-1), and head to Turf Moor with the tantalising possibility of ending the weekend at the Championship summit.

Burnley have gone through an unsettling fortnight, agreeing the sales of high-profile players Wilson Odobert, Sander Berge, Dara O'Shea and Wout Weghorst, although there have been some interesting additions too, including a loan for winger Jaidon Anthony from Bournemouth.

The Clarets have established a strong, well-balanced squad and they can underline their promotion credentials with a return to winning ways.
