Blackburn vs Burnley predictions

Blackburn dropped out of the Championship playoff places after drawing 1-1 at Leeds on New Year's Day but they have been a threat to the bigger clubs and can get the better of arch-rivals Burnley at Ewood Park.

There were modest pre-season expectations of Blackburn, but they recruited intelligently in the summer and have always been in the top ten.

John Eustace's physical team are organised and have flourished in some of the toughest matches, including Wednesday's trip to Elland Road, when Danny Batth's injury-time goal earned a well-deserved share of the points.

Rovers have not beaten Burnley in the last ten meetings but they performed well in last August's 1-1 draw at Turf Moor where they were reduced to ten men after Makhtar Gueye's 57th-minute red card.

Second-placed Burnley have improved since those early weeks of the season when they were adjusting after a summer of considerable change, but they have had issues in attack with a lack of firepower contributing to the recent 0-0 draws away to Middlesbrough and at home to Stoke.

Scott Parker's side have the Championship's best defensive record (nine goals conceded) and make the short trip to Blackburn on a 12-game unbeaten run.

However, their away defeats (1-0 reverses at Sunderland and Millwall) came at difficult venues with vociferous home support, and those will be the circumstances they face on Saturday.

A close, fiercely contested match is on the cards, but Blackburn should feel confident after their performance at Leeds, and they look a tempting draw-no-bet wager to follow with a momentous home win.

Key stat

Blackburn have kept six clean sheets in their last ten home fixtures.
