Blackburn vs Preston predictions
Preston have had the edge over Lancashire rivals Blackburn in recent times, winning two and drawing three of the last five meetings, and they can take at least a share of the spoils in their encounter at Ewood Park.
Below the top four, the Championship table is getting congested with ten points covering fifth to 17th.
Anyone within that grouping could sustain a challenge for a top-six finish, including 15th-placed Preston, who have had recent successes over some of the teams they are trying to catch.
North End were worthy 2-1 winners at Watford on their last road trip before registering a hard-fought 2-1 triumph at home to Middlesbrough.
And they approach the Blackburn game knowing maximum points will lift them into the top half and just four points shy of the playoff positions.
Seventh-placed Blackburn need a win to move up to fifth but they have been on a poor run, taking five points from the last nine games, and are hampered by a lengthy absentee list.
Rovers manager John Eustace wants his club to get busy in the final days of the transfer window and ensure the club's encouraging early-season efforts are not entirely wasted.
However, his options for the Preston game are set to be similar to last weekend's fixture at Bristol City when a depleted Rovers side competed well before sliding to a 2-1 loss.
Eustace will be keen to see a response in such a high-profile fixture but his team are opposable against a confident North End side on a five-game unbeaten run.

Blackburn have won just one of their last nine games
