Birmingham vs Wrexham predictions

Wrexham have been promoted from the National League and League Two in the past two seasons and they are relishing the step up to League One.

The Red Dragons have won four and drawn one of their first five games in the third tier and only Birmingham and Huddersfield, two of the clubs relegated from the Championship last season, are above them in the title betting.

Monday's trip to League One favourites Birmingham will be a serious test of Wrexham's credentials but their first two away fixtures of the season were also tough assignments.

Phil Parkinson's men drew 0-0 at Bolton, who lost in the 2023-24 playoff final, before a 2-0 win at Peterborough, who finished fourth in the division last term.

Birmingham have taken ten points from their first four games and striker Alfie May, last season's League One Golden Boot winner with Charlton, has scored in all four outings.

Scotland international Lyndon Dykes and Fulham forward Jay Stansfield have arrived to bolster the Blues' attacking unit but they look short enough in the betting to take maximum points against Wrexham.

The visitors have kept clean sheets in their last four league games and were 2-0 up at half-time in all four of their wins, against Wycombe, Reading, Peterborough and Shrewsbury.

Birmingham's last three league fixtures produced six first-half goals, while they conceded twice in the first 14 minutes of last month's EFL Cup defeat to Fulham, so over 1.5 goals is worth a bet when the in-form promotion rivals meet at St Andrew's.
