Tuesday's EFL Trophy predictions

Burton climbed off the foot of League One with Saturday's 2-0 victory at home to Shrewsbury and they can follow it by winning away to third-tier rivals Northampton in Southern Section Group F of the EFL Trophy.

Survival is the priority for the Brewers, who are six points inside the League One relegation zone.

But Burton don't have a weekend fixture to worry about and their immediate focus is on continuing their mini-revival under interim manager Tom Hounsell.

The Brewers have put together a three-game unbeaten run aided by a trio of clean sheets, and are clearly becoming more difficult to play against.

However, they will look to get on the front foot against Northampton because a victory may be needed to see them through to the knockout rounds.

Northampton lead the section after two successive victories but could still end up in third place if they lose to Burton by more than one goal.

The Cobblers will be keen to finish the job but their manager, Jon Brady faces a tough selection due to a lengthy injury list and the importance of preparing properly for Saturday's league trip to Blackpool.

Brady is expected to make wholesale changes and that could open the door for Burton to claim their second win of the group phase.

League Two MK Dons and League One Leyton Orient are third and fourth in Southern Section Group E and face each other in Buckinghamshire with both clubs knowing that only a win will give them hope of progressing.

Neither team will be interested in playing for a draw but Orient have the advantage of a free weekend coming up and they look the likelier winners.
