Paraguay have been fortunate to reach the Copa America quarter-finals without winning a game but their luck could run out when they face tournament hosts Brazil in Porto Alegre.

Home supporters have taken a while to warm to Brazil, who made hard work of a 3-0 success over Bolivia before drawing 0-0 with Venezuela.

However, the jeers turned to cheers when the Samba Stars swept aside Peru 5-0 in Sao Paulo last Saturday.

Brazil made a fast start against Peru and were 3-0 up inside 32 minutes.

Confidence started to flow through the side and Peru, who had previously taken four points from two games, were well beaten.

Crucially, the Brazilian public are now fully on board and with their help Tite's improving outfit are going to be hard to stop.

Paraguay's immediate priority is to take the sting out of the game but they lack the defensive nous to keep Brazil at bay.

The last time they kept a clean sheet in a competitive games was in August 2017 when they registered a shock 3-0 victory away to Chile.

This summer Paraguay threw away leads in their first two games, drawing 2-2 with Qatar and 1-1 with Argentina, before losing 1-0 to a largely second-string Colombia on Sunday.

They do not appear to have progressed since falling short in World Cup qualification – they finished 17 points behind Brazil – and look likely to exit the Copa with a heavy defeat.

Recommendation
Brazil-Brazil double result
2pts 4-6 Coral, Ladbrokes

Key stat
