PSV vs Liverpool predictions

Arne Slot's first working trip home since becoming Liverpool boss could end with the novelty of the Reds not winning.

Liverpool are in Eindhoven for their final league-phase assignment in the Champions League to take on Eredivisie leaders PSV, who get the thumbs-up more because of the negatives surrounding the Reds than any positives of their own.

Yes, their home record is awesome – they are unbeaten at the Philips Stadion since November 2022 – and unlike Liverpool they do need something from this fixture.

But if Liverpool turned up fully staffed, fully focused and with a manager not thinking about Saturday's crunch trip to Bournemouth in the Premier League, they'd be a warm order.

Slot can make changes and still send out a strong team, although he can afford a first defeat of the campaign with a top-two spot in the standings assured.

PSV, always positive at home anyway, can probably lose and go through, although a draw - which would also guarantee Liverpool top spot - would certainly do the Dutch giants.

Their three home games in the competition have yielded a 1-1 draw with Sporting Lisbon, a 4-0 drubbing of Girona and lucky 3-2 win over Shakhtar, a game they were losing 2-0 before the Ukrainian nomads were reduced to ten men.

PSV fans aren't exactly raving over the form of Peter Bosz's men and they lose something with American gem Malik Tillman out injured.

This is an eighth game in 24 days for Liverpool and coming ahead of a trip to Bournemouth and a League Cup semi-final showdown with Tottenham, this is way down the list of priorities.

Key stat

PSV are unbeaten in their last 53 home games, a run dating back to November 2022

PSV vs Liverpool bet builder predictions

Richie Ledezma over 53.5 passes
If this turns into a game of keep-ball then PSV full-back Richie Ledezma will be a big player. He had 43 passes in 77 minutes in the 3-2 win at Red Star last week.

Under 3.5 goals
It's a game of little consequence to Liverpool and one where PSV won't want to throw it all away. Expect caginess from the hosts and the goals tally to drop.

Over 4.5 PSV Corners
The Dutch league leaders average nine corners per game at home. They shouldn't get anywhere near that, but can claim five or more.
