Match preview

Liverpool have a 100 per cent record going into the last round of Champions League group fixtures but they could be denied an unblemished campaign by Serie A leaders Milan at San Siro.

Every Champions League match has value due to the impact on a club's coefficient, but Jurgen Klopp is likely to give key players a breather.

The Reds have to cram in seven domestic fixtures over the next four weeks and are focused on staying in the thick of the Premier League title race.

Divock Origi was their hero at Wolves on Saturday, coming off the bench to score his fourth goal of the campaign, and seems certain to be among the starters as Klopp looks set to make several changes.

It adds up to an excellent opportunity for Milan, who are in a three-team battle to finish second.

The Rossoneri remained bottom despite a 1-0 success at Atletico Madrid on matchday five but a victory over Liverpool would guarantee some form of European knockout stage football in 2022.

To finish second Milan also need the points to be shared between Porto and Atletico Madrid at Estadio Dragao but, either way, they have plenty to play for.

Beating Liverpool won't be straightforward but it looks achievable for Stefano Pioli's side, who seem to be readjusting to life among Europe's elite.

This season is their first taste of Champions League football since 2013-14 and it could be extended beyond the end of the year.
