Manchester City vs Feyenoord predictions

After losing four games in a row before the international break, Manchester City were expected to take out their frustration on Tottenham, who visited the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.

Spurs not only avoided a hammering but ended up thrashing the Citizens 4-0 – a result that may not have helped City's Champions League opponents Feyenoord.

The Dutch side, like their hosts, are struggling with injuries and City, despite their troubles, are still just 6-4 with Betfair and Paddy Power to win by at least two goals on Tuesday.

Pep Guardiola, who signed a two-year contract extension last week, was in animated form in Monday's press conference, pointing out the scale of the club's injury crisis this season.

But key playmaker Kevin De Bruyne should be fit to start against Feyenoord and it would be no surprise to see the hosts come flying out of the traps in pursuit of a first win since October 26.

City were frustrated by a classy Inter side in a goalless draw at the Etihad on matchday one but have made strong starts to their other three games in Europe.

Ilkay Gundogan and Phil Foden scored inside the first 15 minutes of the 4-0 win at Slovan Bratislava and Foden struck in the third minute of the 5-0 rout of Sparta Prague.

The England international also broke the deadlock in the fourth minute of the trip to Sporting last time out before the Portuguese champions roared back to win 4-1.

Feyenoord's Champions League campaign began with a 4-0 home defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, whose goals all came in the first half, and wounded City are a tempting bet to score at least twice before the break.

Former Feyenoord boss Arne Slot has led Liverpool to the top of the Premier League – and the head of the title betting – before Sunday's showdown with City at Anfield.

Slot's successor Brian Priske enjoyed a 3-2 win at Girona and a 3-1 victory at Benfica on matchdays two and three but Feyenoord's defensive deficiencies were exposed in a shock 3-1 home defeat to Salzburg last time out.

They conceded twice in the first 25 minutes of their 2-0 home loss to Ajax in the Eredivisie at the end of October and may struggle to keep City quiet in the first half.

Despite the wide margin of their defeat against Spurs, City won the shot count 23-9 and Feyenoord's defence is likely to buckle under that kind of pressure.

Key stat

Manchester City have scored in the first 20 minutes in six of their nine home matches this season.
