Bradley Wood has been banned for six years after being found guilty of two match-fixing offences after twice being intentionally booked during Lincoln's FA Cup run to the quarter-finals last season.

Wood committed 25 breaches of the Football Association's integrity and betting rules. Wood admitted 23 of the charges but contested the two of being intentionally booked against Ipswich and Burnley.

The FA said seven people, including two close friends, bet on Wood to be cautioned and the winnings came to around £10,000 but not all were paid.

Part of the written reasons of the independent regulatory commission published on the Football Association's website included bet details and read "in its submissions the FA summarises the betting material in the following terms...

"The amounts staked were truly exceptional when compared with the
average stake for the "to be carded" betting market and all of the
bettors were placing bets that were significantly higher than any other bet that they had previously placed, or were to place.

"Moreover, five of the seven bets were the maximum stake permitted by the betting operator. None of the seven individuals placing the bets had previously bet on the "to be carded" market.

In summary, four of the bettors were using their accounts for the first time when betting on Mr Wood to be carded. All of the bettors were placing bets that were very much larger than any other bet that they had previously placed, or were to place.

"Moreover, William Hill have never seen a four-figure sum on the to be carded market; Sky Bet only rarely…which underlines the absence of any legitimate basis for the bets."
