BoyleSports World Grand Prix day five predictions

Friday is quarter-final stage of the BoyleSports World Grand Prix and Luke Humphries must be sensing an opportunity to stamp his authority on the competition.

With Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen falling at the first hurdle in Leicester this week, world champion Humphries has become an emphatic tournament favourite. Cool Hand takes the oche against Jonny Clayton in the quarter-finals.

Luke Humphries vs Jonny Clayton

World number one Luke Humphries appears to be warming to his task in Leicester and it would be a surprise if he failed to reach the final. The defending champion and winner of five Majors in the space of a year seems unlikely to be hugely troubled by Jonny Clayton at the Mattioli Arena.

Humphries won a Players Championship event last Thursday to provide an ideal pre-Grand Prix confidence boost and this title seems at his mercy after Littler's shock first-round defeat. Humphries looks a solid bet to win 5-3 or better against Clayton.

Rob Cross vs Ryan Joyce

Rob Cross has made it to the quarter-finals of the Grand Prix for the first time in eight appearances. Voltage admits he is unsettled by this format and appears an overrated favourite for his all-English meeting with Ryan Joyce.

Relentless is a fierce competitor who has produced some stunning darts in floor events this year. Having survived match darts in round two, Joyce can freewheel from here and send Cross packing.
