PDC World Darts Championship quarter-final predictions

Three former champions, one non-seed and the hottest property in the sport make up the last eight of the Paddy Power World Darts Championship after a dramatic first 13 days of action at Alexandra Palace.

Chris Dobey vs Gerwyn Price predictions

Head-to-head: Price leads 14-1

Form is temporary, class is permanent, an adage which applies to a number of 2024's under-achievers who have made the quarter-finals, including Gerwyn Price.

There was little in the formbook to suggest the Iceman would flourish at a venue he's no fan of, yet he has seen off Keane Barry, Joe Cullen and Jonny Clayton to get this far.

However, he hasn't played anyone yet in the form of Chris Dobey, who may have had the easier run to the last eight but is having far fewer off-moments in matches which are blighting the Welshman's chances.

This promises to be tense and you only have to look at the head-to-heads to appreciate that Price has to be more than happy with this draw. If it is tense, it's quite likely total 180s have been overrated. If it isn't close, they definitely have.

Michael van Gerwen v Callan Rydz predictions

H2H: Van Gerwen leads 3-2

Michael van Gerwen, like Price, has defied an average year to deliver when it matters and he insists he is improving game by game.

However, this is the same stage as his defeat at the hands of Scott Williams last year so he'll be wary of Callan Rydz, a player he battered 6-0 on the floor when they last met in March.

Rydz is no stranger to this round – he was here three years ago taking Peter Wright the distance – and he is scoring better than anyone in the tournament having posted the two highest averages.

But MvG would have been 1-6 for this a couple of years back. And this is MvG, after all. This could yet be his year.

Peter Wright vs Stephen Bunting predictions

H2H: Wright leads 18-12

The evening session sees Peter Wright hoping to continue his astonishing revival by seeing off Stephen Bunting.

And after the job he did on world champ and world number one Luke Humphries in the last 16, the Scot has to fancy his chances.

Snakebite's problem is consistency these days and common sense says that former BDO champ Bunting, in the form of his life, has too much.

Stick him in a double with Luke Littler in a bet that works out at around 9-10.

Luke Littler vs Nathan Aspinall predictions

H2H: Littler leads 7-1

Top billing goes to Luke Littler, inevitably, who needs to hold himself together once again after his close-run thing against Ryan Joyce on Monday night.

That final-set win probably did Littler the world of good because it's clear he's feeling far more pressure on that stage than many had envisaged.

Nathan Aspinall, a crowd favourite especially with his hugely popular Mr Brightside walk-on, is capable of troubling Littler but averaging around 91 for the tournament isn't going to get the job done.

Littler looks human, still brilliant but at least human, but he is looking more assured as each hurdle is cleared. He hit a 103.14 average against Joyce and, with a more clear-cut victory forecast, can sail over 102.5.
