PDC World Darts Championship Day 11 predictions

More than 100,000 children across Britain were expected to have opened a Luke Littler-branded magnetic darts set on Christmas Day, although the man himself insisted he would be having a day off from throwing any tungsten.

You can bet the Nuke will have been back toeing the oche on Boxing Day, though, as he prepares to resume his Paddy Power World Championship bid against Ian White on Saturday.

Littler is a general 11-8 favourite to become world champion on January 3 after a scintillating fourth-set performance in his opening win over Ryan Meikle a week ago, when he averaged a tournament record set average of 140.91 to close out a 3-1 success, and he is 1-25 beat White.

The Nuke's showdown with the veteran arrowsmith is just one of six cracking last-32 ties across two sessions at Alexandra Palace on Saturday and there are a couple of standout wagers before Littler takes centre stage.

Scott Williams made a stunning run to the semi-finals last year and he continued his love affair with the Palace by beating Rob Cross in round two to set up a last-32 tie with German Ricardo Pietreczko.

Shaggy’s 3-1 victory over Voltage looks good but a match average of only 87.90 gives a much clearer indication of his performance levels against 2018 world champion Cross, who was nowhere near his best.

Williams was the underdog against Cross but the 34-year-old is favourite to beat Pietreczko and the pressure is on.

Pikachu produced a solid 91.64 average in his second-round win over the excellent Gian van Veen and he is a capable performer.

Quotes of 11-10 underplay Pietreczko’s chances and the German rates one of the best bets on today’s Ally Pally card.

Third-round opponents Chris Dobey and Josh Rock will both be eyeing up progression from a wide-open quarter at this year's worlds.

Dobey looked in control of his game when averaging 95.62 in his 3-1 victory over Alexander Merkx before the break and Hollywood, who won three Players Championship events this season, has long been one of the standout performers on the PDC tour.

Only Gary Anderson has produced better numbers than the 34-year-old this year and he can take another step towards a third consecutive quarter-final appearance at Alexandra Palace with victory over Rock.

The Northern Irishman's doubling was a tad erratic in his 3-0 win over Rhys Griffin in round two and he may well have been in trouble against a better opponent.

Rocky can be expected to improve on his 87.13 average but he will need to show considerable improvement to get close to Dobey, and even that may not be good enough to ruin Hollywood's script.
